Minnesota Takes on COVID-19, Together
In Minnesota, we pride ourselves on being the friendly state. We share hotdish, warm hugs and a common disdain for the unpredictable weather. We cheer each other on from the sidelines, in the office and as our kids walk across the graduation stage. This year, however, we have shared more than ever before, and not just for the better. More than 386,000 Minnesotans have experienced COVID-19 in 2020 and more than 4,500 of our friends, neighbors and loved ones have died from this horrible virus. The numbers are staggering and remind us daily that we are not out of the woods yet.
While many Minnesotans are doing their part and staying home to keep themselves and others healthy, more work needs to be done to stop the spread. That’s why Allina Health | Aetna is proud to partner with 16 health systems and insurers across the state to form the FightCovidMN partnership. This assertive public awareness campaign urges Minnesotans to remain vigilant in the fight against COVID-19. Together, we are encouraging everyone across the state to wear a mask, keep social distance and do your part to help stop the spread. It is important to remember that “COVID isn’t taking a holiday.”
Partnering with our fellow healthcare community is the right thing to do as we navigate this pandemic together. Allina Health | Aetna also reiterates the importance of its ‘Because Care Doesn’t Stop’ campaign, a part of a national initiative from CVS Health, ‘Time for Care’. We know that although physical distancing and staying home plays an essential role in preventing the spread of COVID-19, people still need to prioritize their primary health care needs.
The campaign encourages Minnesotans to continue to seek care as necessary. Allina Health | Aetna has implemented programs and safeguards – including waiving copays for COVID-19 treatment and strengthening telehealth offerings – to ensure consistent, safe and convenient care. These measures along with the health and safety precautions put in place by area hospitals and clinics have allowed members to continue to seek care and support during this time.
We also remind you that there are many avenues to seek care and resources in place to help meet your needs during this unprecedented time. Resources such as virtual care, clinical care, urgent care and emergency care services. Your healthcare needs can’t afford to take a back seat to the coronavirus, so research your options for care, now.
Remember, it is on each of us to do our part to fight COVID-19. If there is one thing that Minnesotans do well, it is coming together to support each other in times of need. While the support may be virtual or from a safe distance, for now, it is still as impactful and important as ever.
